The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO has made four Cuban brochures on education available to its member states, with initiatives to deal with the impact of the current Covid-19 pandemic on the sector.

The materials include methodological suggestions and proposals for activities to be carried out from school or at home, as well as for the monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of the planned education strategy.

The UN agency posted the Cuban brochures on its website with download options. The texts compile probable reactions of schoolchildren amidst disaster situations and recommended responses within society.

The texts deal also with the role of educational institutions in circumstances such as the one generated by the pandemic, a health crisis that led to school closures in most countries around the world, with more than 1.5 billion students (nine out of ten) today confined to their homes.

According to UNESCO, the documents are the result of a joint effort of the Cuban Ministry of Education, the University of Pinar del Río, the Unesco Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, headquartered in Havana, and the Every Child Learns program of the UNICEF-Cuba Office.
