Silvio Rodríguez & Luis Eduardo Aute

Havana, April 2 (RHC)-- Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez has joined a group of artists, representatives of different music genres and styles from various nations, who are featured in a new version of the tune ‘Pasaba por aquí’, by Spanish musician Luis Eduardo Aute, as a tribute on occasion of the first anniversary of Aute’s death.

The world premiere of the new choral version of Aute’s song took place this Friday. Participating artists include Spaniards Joaquín Sabina, Estopa, Rozalén, Xoel López, Ismael Serrano, Marwán, Pedro Guerra, Vanesa and Dani Martín, Mexican Carlos Rivera, Uruguayan Jorge Drexler, and Argentinian Abel Pintos.

The tune ‘Pasaba por aquí’ is included in the album Alma (from 1980), with which Luis Eduardo Aute completed his trilogy of ‘love and life songs’, produced by Ismael Guijarro with arrangements by Álvaro Gandul.

Luis Eduardo Aute stood out for being an intellectual in his facets as a musician, singer-songwriter, film director, cartoonist, painter and writer with a work of great level and maximum independence. He died of a heart attack at the age of 76 on April 4th, 2020, in Madrid.

Silvio Rodríguez and Luis Eduardo Aute were close friends and shared on stage on several occasions. They released a double album entitled ‘Mano a mano’, which contained the live concert they gave on September 24th, 1993 in Madrid, Spain.
