Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco
Havana, April 9 (RHC)-- Cuban musician Manolito Simonet celebrates the 28th anniversary of his band and the 72nd anniversary of Maravilla de Florida orchestra, where he started his artistic life back in 1983.
The musician is preparing the release of two musical productions, the first one entitled ‘Tributo a la Maravilla de Florida’ and the second one entitled ‘Disciplina’.
The first album ‘Tributo a la Maravilla de Florida’ includes 8 tracks, new versions of iconic tunes from the band’s repertoire over the past 7 decades, some of them unknown to the new members of the orchestra, including two songs ‘Desde que me olvidaste’ and ‘Tributo’, written by Manolito Simonet himself and the tune ‘Pídelo que lo toque’, written by flutist and composer, the late Orlando Beltrán, who was with the orchestra for 40 years.
Invited artists include Isaac Delgado, Mayito Rivera and Jorge Leliebre, flutist with Los Van Van orchestra, among others.
Fans of Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco are already celebrating the 28th anniversary of the band, enjoying their latest musical production ‘Disciplina’, released on March 27th last on Cuban television. It includes new versions of iconic tunes like ‘Cabeza loca’ and ‘Pura matemática’, the first song written by Ricardo Amaray, shortly after joining the orchestra.
Recorded in 2020 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the album includes collaborations by other renowned Cuban artists like trombonist Eduardo Sandoval.
Manolito Simonet said that he is planning a big concert entitled ‘El Reencuentro’, with his band sharing onstage with other Cuban orchestras, as soon as the epidemiological situation allows for it, so as to reconnect with their followers.
