Havana, June 1 (RHC)-- Cuba’s record and musical editions company EGREM has released the latest album by La Conga de los Hoyos --one of the oldest carnival groups in eastern Santiago de Cuba.
Entitled "La Conga de Cuba," the album features several guest artists, among them Septeto Santiaguero, Ricardo Leyva, Yumuri y sus hermanos, Alejandro Falcón, Magic Sax Quartet, Rubén Leliebre, Ramón Álvarez, Dagoberto Planas, Lázaro Thomas, Jorge Noel Batista, Oskaro Delgado and Chardo Hernández.
Founded in 1902, la Conga de los Hoyos is the best-known Cuban carnival group on the island and around the world. Band members are exclusively from the Los Hoyos, a neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba.
The band features over 50 percussionists and singers who play everything from car brake drums, hubcaps and frying pans to the distinctive Chinese trumpet – a sound unique to eastern Cuba’s carnival groups.
