Augusto Blanca
Havana, June 1 (RHC)-- Singer-songwriter Augusto Blanca has just released his latest album entitled "Humedades", which is now available on digital platforms.
An exponent of Cuba’s Nueva Trova Movement, Augusto Blanca has an extensive musical production that includes essential titles, like "A golpe de canción", "Amor en los tiempos" or "Soñar a toda costa".
An award-winning singer-songwriter, in 2010, he won the Special Prize granted by Silvio Rodriguez’s Office and Ojala Studios for his studio album “La fuga de la tarde,” with poems by Cuban revolutionary Ruben Martinez-Villena set to music.
Also, in 2015, Augusto Blanca won Cuba’s coveted Cubadisco Award for Best Trova Music Album for his CD “Las Poblinas,” which the author said was inspired mainly by his childhood and adolescence in Banes, eastern Holguin province.
‘Humedades’ is his seventh album.
In statements to the press, Blanca said this latest album includes some previously unpublished tunes and others already well known by his followers, all of them about the sea, rivers, rain, snow, tears. He calls them ‘wet’ tunes.
He added that all the tracks in ‘Humedades’ invite listeners to reflect on the important things in life, particularly in these difficult, decisive times humanity is going through.
All of Augusto Blanca’s albums include collaborations by other renowned Cuban musicians like Sara González, Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanes, Vicente and Santiago Feliu, Lazaro Garcia, Pepe Ordaz, Rochy Almeneiros and Adrian Berazain, among others.
