Cuba strengthens links with its nationals abroad

Havana, July 11 (RHC)-- The 1st Cultural Festival of Cuban Residents Abroad concluded over the weekend with violin player Fernando Muñoz and viola player Winnie Camila Agüero performing Chacona Tropical, followed by Cuban dancer Arianne Laffita and her Italian partner Vittorio Calloro, two exponents of the Cuban National Ballet School, who reside in Italy.

Musician Dairamir González sent greetings from the Uited States and performed the piece ‘Sencillez’. Pianist Marcos Madrigal and violin player Omar Puentes joined from Italy, performing the piece 'En mi Menor Conga', while Believe duo, formed by Isumy Leyva and Dayron Enamorado joined the festival from France.

Other artists, who performed during this first Cultural Festival of Cuban Residents Abroad included singer-songwriter Virginia Guantanamera (from Canary Islands), choreographer Nelson Reguera (from France), violin player Ilmar López-Gavilán (from United States) and model Jorge González (from Germany).

Multi-instrumentalist Yusa performed the piece 'Para cuando sople el viento', saxophonist Ariel Bringuez and pianist Iván Melón presented 'Siempre en mi corazón' (Always in my heart), in homage to Cuba’s rich cultural heritage.

Legendary Cuban dancer Loipa Araújo also took part from United Kingdom. She contributed her own concept of Cuban nationality.

Jazz musician Arturo O´Farril and the Afro Latin orchestra performed Habana Blues with arrangements by Telmary Díaz and Gregg August.
