Cuban art at Soho Photo Gallery in New York

The art piece ‘María Cristina’, by Cuban artist Julio César García, is among works compiled in a new photographic exhibition, celebrating the first fifty years of the Soho Photo Gallery in New York City.

In statements to Cuban news Agency, García explained that the exhibition entitled "Looking Back: Soho Photo's First 50 Years", will remain open to the public through January 30th.

Founded in 1971 by a group of New York Times photographers Soho Photo Gallery is a member-artist run organization.

It has created a special photography community, through various programs and platforms for both emerging and established photographers, and through the increasing appreciation of photography.

The gallery also offers workshops and lectures open to members and the public.

In September of 2019, Soho Photo Gallery hosted the exhibition ‘El Reino de Este Mundo’ by Cuban Julio César García, the first ever by a Cuban artist in that space. ‘María Cristina’ is among works included in the exhibition, which has won several prizes in national and international events alike.
