Festival in Argentina against the blockade of Cuba
Buenos Aires, May 29 (RHC)-- Argentinean artists are denouncing today the aggressions of the United States against Cuba during a Festival against the blockade that is taking place in the city of Rosario, belonging to the province of Santa Fe.
For four hours, the Ernesto Che Guevara Square of that territory will host painters, singers, dancers and friends of the Caribbean nation, who will express their support for the island and condemn Washington's attacks.
The initiative is organized by the House of Solidarity with Cuba and the Patria Grande, which bears the guerrilla's name, and will count on the participation of musicians, singer-songwriter Leonel Capitano, among other musicians, playwrights and plastic artists.
According to Capitano, who serves as vice-president of the Casa, attendees will also be able to enjoy popular music genres from Cuba and Argentina such as salsa and milonga.
Many Rosarinos will dance to demonstrate their repudiation of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Yankee empire on the island for more than 60 years, he said in declarations to Prensa Latina.
This is the first activity in a public space organized by the Casa, which has been in operation for a year. However, more and more people are joining our work. They do it out of love for Cuba and out of rebellion against the injustices suffered by that country. They come to contribute from wherever they can, not only through artistic manifestations, but also with concrete initiatives, he said.
In that sense, he pointed out that, as part of the Festival, a fund-raising campaign is being carried out to send to the 10 de Octubre Hospital in Havana, supplies that this entity cannot acquire due to the U.S. siege.
We want to repay Cuba for its generosity and the great solidarity it provides. That nation is an example of dignity and greatness in the face of difficulties, and also sends its doctors to the most remote places in the world, he said.
He also stressed the importance of gathering around the statue of Guevara (1928-1967), a fighter who is a symbol of both nations. "It is a propitious and meeting place because there is the figure of our eternal Commander, Fidel Castro."
