Panama City, May 14 (RHC) --The 12th Panama International Festival of Performing Arts (FAE 2023) opens tomorrow with the acclaimed play Yo no estoy loca, from Colombia, the organizing committee announced today.
In declarations to Prensa Latina, producer Roberto King, in charge of the event, indicated that it is a luxury opening since the presentation is in charge of the famous Teatro Petra and it is a black comedy about the role of women in our societies, starring renowned actress Marcela Valencia.
The maximum event of theater and contemporary dance in the country, he said, will be extended until Saturday 20, with the main sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and the Experimental Group of University Cinema.
On the first day, the public will also be able to enjoy a Panamanian group that debuts with the staging of Malditos 16, by Mercedes Gintolli, about suicide in youth.
This year's festival will feature 16 national and international groups and artists, plus four international masters, for a total of seven countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico and Panama, King added.
The international theatrical offer will be made up of four productions of wide world tour from Argentina; two from Colombia and Mexico, and two contemporary dance choreographies of high artistic flight, from Brazil and Spain.
The Panamanian theater is a selection of three of the shows with the highest profile of research and experimentation that have been presented in this capital recently, directed by relevant new local figures, he explained.
Panamanian dance will feature short powerful works choreographed by young creators, which will be presented in one night.
Another important part of FAE 2023, he said, will be the training activities offered free of charge to students and performing artists, seeking to strengthen and update their talents and skills.
Workshops and a theater seminar will be given by respected teachers from Cuba, Colombia and Venezuela.
Another segment will be the FAE invites neighborhood schools, which on this occasion will bring free children's entertainment to schools, seeking to contribute to the development and cultural connection of new generations.
As a culmination, next Saturday there will be a day with the family outdoors that will close with a parade through the streets surrounding the capital's Santa Ana Square until reaching the Cathedral, in the Casco Antiguo, which will include performances by magicians, stilt walkers, circus, jugglers, contemporary dance and musical bands from Argentina, Venezuela and Panama.
