Cinemateca de Cuba continues cycle of memorable films

Havana, May 17 (RHC) --The Cinemateca de Cuba continues this Wednesday and through May 28 with new batches of the cycle on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its inclusion as a full member of the International Federation of Film Archives.

Havana's 23 and 12 movie theaters will screen "Too Late" (René Clément, 1949) and "The Postman of the White Nights" (Andrei Konchalovski, 2014), with two evening screenings, preceded by several issues of the ICAIC Latin American Newsreels.

Cubacine said that this Thursday 18 will continue with "The Shadow of Forgotten Predecessors" (Sergey Paradzhanov, 1965) and "The Music Box" (Costa-Gavras, 1989).

On Friday 19 it will be the turn of "The Daisies" (Vera Chytilová, 1966) and "Without Anesthesia" (Andrzej Wajda, 1978).

On Saturday, May 20, the 25th anniversary of the death of the remembered Cuban filmmaker Santiago Álvarez will be commemorated with the presentation of two films: "El sueño del pongo" (Santiago Álvarez, 1970) and "Los ojos de Santiago" (Rodrigo Vázquez and Osaín Álvarez, 2020).

The second evening session will feature "The Three Faces of Eve" (Nunnally Johnson, 1957).

On Sunday 21, the film chosen is the classic "Lola Montes" (Max Ophuls, 1955) and the Argentine Mario Soffici's "Rosaura a las diez" (1958).

On Wednesday, May 24, the series restarts with the films "The English Patient" (Anthony Minghella, 1996) and "The Other Side" (Fatih Akin, 2006).

On May 25, Cyril Leuthy's "Godard Cinema" (2022) will be presented, and at 6:00 p.m. local time there will be a special section for Cuban cinema with Armand Gatti's "The Other Cristobal" (1963).

"Con Deseo" (Frank Borzage, 1936) and Peter Cattaneo's "O todo o nada" (1997) will be shown on Friday 26, and on Saturday 27, Elia Kazan's "Splendor in the Grass" (1969), followed by "The Heroes of Telemark" (Anthony Mann, 1965).

The cycle closes on Sunday the 28th with "Indochina" (Régis Wargnier, 1992) and "El año de las luces" (1986) by the multi-laureate Spanish director Fernando Trueba.
