Havana, May 20 (RHC) -- Tania Delgado Fernandez is now the new director of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which Cuba has been organizing since 1979 and is considered one of the most renowned in the region.
According to the Festival House, based in Havana, the official has been involved in the promotion of Cuban cinema since 2002 and worked in the area of international relations as vice president of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry.
She was also part of the team that prepared the update of the rules for Cuban audiovisual production, included in Decree 373 of the Independent Audiovisual and Cinematographic Creator.
As part of her curriculum vitae over the years, she has been in constant contact with the Festival, as part of the Industry sector and in meetings with authorities of film institutions and teachers.
She has a degree in Law and has been a professor of that career at the University of Havana and at the Faculty of Audiovisual Media Arts (FAMCA) of the University of the Arts (ISA), teaching institutions with which she collaborates in courses and master's degrees.
Tania Delgado Fernandez is the first woman to assume the direction of Cuba's biggest film event and since her incorporation to the team she has joined the conception and organization of its 44th edition, which will take place in Havana from December 8 to 17, 2023, said the note.
The Cuban Festival's premises are based on the dissemination of films that contribute to the enrichment and reaffirmation of Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity.
The event's program includes a broad and representative sample of contemporary cinema from the rest of the world, industry activities, as well as meetings and seminars on various topics of cultural and, especially, cinematographic interest.
