Madrid, June 13 (RHC)-- Cuban maestro, tres guitar player Pancho Amat is in Madrid, Spain, with his new Project, entitled ‘Estrellas de Buena Vista y Más’.
It is a tribute on the 25th anniversary of the debut album of Cuba’s emblematic Project Buena Vista Social Club.
‘Estrellas de Buena Vista y Más’ features 12 Cuban and foreign musicians. The aim is to honor the world-famous Cuban Project, as well as traditional Cuban trova,’ commented Amat.
Featured artists include original members of Buena Vista Social Club, notably singer Carlos Calunga, percussionist Angel Terry, saxophonist Javier Zalba and bassist Pedro Pablo Gitiérrez Valdés.
Highlights include Pancho Amat himself performing the hit tune “Chan Chan”.
With artistic direction of Javier Marichal, director of Efecto Sound, the current tour began in Madrid, and includes also performances in Medellín, in the Spanish autonomous community of Extremadura.
On July 1st, Pancho Amat will embark on a new European tour, to take this new project to Belgium, Germany, Italy and again, Spain.
Marichal spoke of a Latin American tour with the Project in October.
