Cuban musicians delight German audiences with their art

Havana, July 7 (RHC)-- Celebrated Cuban musician Eliades Ochoa and his band Patria performed the opening concert of Rudolstadt World Music Festival in Germany, which has Cuba as guest country of honor.

Running through July 9th, the program includes performances by other popular Cuban artists, notably Los Van Van, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Tony Ávila and his band, Cimafunk, Yarima Blanco, Telmary & HabanaSana, and Gema IV, as well as a symposium and a photographic exhibition with works by Cuban artists.

According to the Cuban Music Institute, on July 7th, the president of Cubadisco and leader of Grupo Moncada, Jorge Gómez, and the vice president of Cubadisco, musicologist, producer and Latin Grammy winner Cary Diez will give conferences on Cuban music.

The Rudolstadt World Music Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious world music festivals in Europe. The range of concerts, workshops and talks attract up to 25,000 visitors a day.

According to the official website of Rudolstadt, newcomers from all over the world stand alongside established names from the roots, folk and world music scene.
