Cuba Fe at Isla de la Música

Havana, July 7 (RHC)—Popular Buena Fe duo performed a concert, marking the opening of a new recreational space in the Cuban capital called ‘La Isla de la Música’ (The Island of Music).

Other featured artists on the opening night of this new cultural project in the Havana neighborhood of Miramar included also trova musician Nelson Valdés and the pop-rock band D’ Cuba.

According to the organizers, La Isla de la Música was conceived as an inclusive space, where the public will exchange with popular artists and orchestras, and enjoy a wide range of genres: son, trova, fusion music, pop, rumba, jazz and more…

The Project has announced the performance of Alexander Abreu y Havana D’ Primera, Haila María Mompié, Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor, Waldo Mendoza, piano virtuoso Alejandro Falcón, trova musician Diego Gutiérrez and rock artist Ernesto Blanco.

The organizers point to performances also by artists from Venezuela, Spain and the United States.

The concerts will take place Thursdays through Sundays, during the Summer months of July and August.

On Wednesdays, there will be workshops on Cuban music and dance genres, musical appreciation courses for children and young adolescents.

La Isla de la Música is the result of joint work of local development projects like Mambo Producciones and “Marcelo Salado” Recreational Complex, the Company Mambo SRL, the government in Havana, cultural authorities in the Cuban capital and the record and musical editions Company EGREM.
