Havana, August 21 (Prensa Latina)-- The exhibition of engravings "Dos miradas para un reencuentro", by artists Carlos "Tato" Ayress and Omar Morales was inaugurated today at the Taller Experimental de Gráfica de La Habana (Experimental Graphic Workshop of Havana).
In order to pay tribute to the Chilean-Cuban diplomatic relations, Ayress, also a musician and writer born in that South American nation and based in the Caribbean island, exhibits his most recent graphic creation together with the Cuban artist in the main hall of the capital institution.
The exhibition is especially dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Nueva Trova Movement and the 50th anniversary of the fall of President Salvador Allende, the Chilean visual artist told Prensa Latina.
My works go from a graphic experimentation, but I also touch on elements of human rights, although I did not want to delve too much into that; in the case of Omar his pieces are engravings with a more sculptural formula, because that is his specialty, he added.
During the inauguration, Omar Morales, who is also a troubadour, received the medal for the 50th anniversary of the New Trova Movement from Indira Fajardo, president of the Cuban Institute of Music.
We have been celebrating the anniversary of the Movement throughout the year 2023 and that is why we take every opportunity we have to make this kind of recognition to people who have been involved with its history and who have contributed so much to this musical genre, commented Fajardo.
"Dos miradas para un reencuentro" will remain open to the public at the Taller Experimental de Gráfica, located in the historic center of this city, until September 18, which coincides with the celebration of the Fiestas Patrias in Chile.
