Havana, September 15 (RHC)-- The Fidel Castro Ruz Center in Havana hosted on Friday the presentation of the book 'The Odyssey of a President', a worthy tribute to Salvador Allende (1908-1973) on the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état in Chile that ended his life.
Published by Editorial Verde Olivo, the 10-chapter work is the result of exhaustive research by authors Nancy Núñez Pérez and Lídice Valenzuela García.
The director of the cultural institution, René González said that the volume is a tribute to the Chilean socialist politician, as it describes the human being he was, with all his virtues and characteristics.
"The book relates the details of how the coup d'état against Salvador Allende was prepared, while reflecting in a very detailed way the history of America, of Chile and also of Cuba," he said.

The Odyssey of a President' includes an analysis of the participation of the United States, not only in the coup d'état, but in all the plans that were carried out to prevent Allende from becoming president.
It also reveals Allende the father, the grandfather, "because heroes are men of flesh and bones, who suffer, who love, and he was a very brave man, a lifelong revolutionary," said one of the book's authors.
