National Ballet of Cuba to perform in famous tourist destination
Havana, August 3 (RHC) After highly acclaimed performances in Costa Rica, the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) is putting the finishing touches on the shows the company will perform in Cayo Santamaria, one of the country's most famous tourist destinations.
The Iberostar Selection Ensenachos Hotel will host performances by prima ballerinas Sadaise Arencibia, Grettel Morejon and Yankiel Vazquez on August 4, 5 and 6.
Principal dancer Anyelo Montero and soloists Gabriela Druyet, Luis Fernandez, Jorge Guerra, Estefania Hernandez and Alianed Moreno will also make up the cast, the BNC said in a press release.
Directed by Viengsay Valdes, the program will consist of scenes from the second act of The Nutcracker and the Grand Adagio from the second act of Swan Lake, in versions by Alicia Alonso, based on the original choreography by Lev Ivanov, with music by Tchaikovsky.
The choreography Didenoi by Maruxa Salas, with music by Leonardo Amuedo and Dulce Pontes, the solo Muto by Alberto Mendez, with music by Edvard Grieg, and Imago by Ely Regina Hernández will also be presented.
An emblematic work of the BNC's repertoire, Dionaea, choreographed by Gustavo Herrera with music by Heitor Villa-Lobos, has been chosen to close the show.
Founded in 1948 by the brothers Fernando and Alberto Alonso, together with Alicia, the BNC has been declared a National Heritage Site and is recognized as the highest expression of the Cuban school of ballet. (Source: Prensa Latina)
