Circuba brings Latin American artists to Havana

Havana, August 13 (RHC) Artists from Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Cuba will be present at Circuba International 2024, to be held from August 15 to 18 this month at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater, which is preparing to host the event today.

The organizers have decided to change their usual venue in Havana, the Trompoloco Tent, to one of the rooms of the National Theater, in order to provide better access to a greater number of people.

This is what the director of the National Circus of Cuba, Milagros Luis Alonso, said, explaining that they took into account the proximity, capacity and comfort of the audience.

Juggling, aerial acrobatics, acts of driven balance, contortions, clowning, magic, among others, will be part of this edition, which will not have a competitive nature, she told the press.

The personalities of the world circus, who usually participate as jurors, are not available for this date, he explained.

However, there will be beautiful shows that will combine the talents of Cuban artists with those of foreigners from Mexico, Colombia and Chile, he said.

The Cuban company Cirkavana, directed by Clary Fernández, will perform acrobatics on a trampoline, a complex show that has not been presented for several years.

According to the organizers, one of the strengths of this year's event is the participation of many young artists.

Circuba International was first held in 1981 and is considered the oldest event of its kind in the Americas and the third oldest in the world (source: Prensa Latina).
