Havana, December 13 (RHC)-- Radio Havana Cuba presented its traditional Roque Dalton Award to the film "Alí Primera," by Venezuelan director Daniel Yegres, as part of the 52nd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.

The information was released during the collateral awards ceremony that took place in the afternoon hours of this Friday in the Cuban capital.

 

With little-known stories and a structure of very well-achieved time jumps, the film narrates the exciting life of the most important singer-songwriter of the necessary song in Venezuela, according to statements by its director.

Three years of preparation, reading everything that had been written about him, listening to his entire discography, which are his memories and the memories of a country, interviews with family and friends, were the bases on which the creation of the film was built.

Sandor González is the author of the pictorial work that is awarded to the film chosen by the jury made up of journalists Abel Rosales and Hilda Lydia Heredia.

Since 1986, Radio Habana Cuba has awarded its Roque Dalton film award, in memory of the distinguished Salvadoran revolutionary and poet, who worked as a journalist at this station in the 1960s.

Gathered in Havana, Cuba, on December 12, 2024, the jury of the Roque Dalton Collateral Prize of Radio Habana Cuba values ​​a cinematographic work that delves with successful use of the resources of the seventh art into the profound humanistic and revolutionary values ​​of a reference of the singer-songwriter in Latin America.

Exploring the immense mark of Alí Primera with excellent photography and successful direction of actors is a great challenge because human beings like him remain in the popular memory with an unstoppable force.

The challenge is to masterfully capture the man who became the voice of a people, the human being who beats in the memory of our continent, just as his music vibrates in the archives of our station.

We awarded the Roque Dalton Prize of Radio Habana Cuba at the XLV edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana to the film: Alí Primera, by Venezuelan director Daniel Yegres.
