Havana, February 14 (RHC) -- The Territorial Publishing System of Cuba (SET) captured the attention of the organizers of the 33rd edition of the Havana International Book Fair on Friday, which celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The director of Editorial Oriente, Gretchen Menéndez, who is in charge of the SET stand at the Morro-Cabaña Fortress, explained to the Prensa Latina agency that the system's labels are distinguished by giving space to young writers from all over the national territory.
“In the midst of the difficult situation that the country is going through, these 21 publishing houses based in different provinces continue to print new works,” he said.
For his part, the president of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodríguez, highlighted the role of the SET, which has not stopped, despite the complex economic scenario, and is now also betting on the digital format.
He pointed out that more should be known about how these provincial publishing houses remain active and give opportunities to young writers.
Precisely, among the novelties of the XXXIII International Book Fair of Havana is a room dedicated to the System of Territorial Editions, created a quarter of a century ago by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016).
The largest literary event in the country began the day before, and after concluding its Havana chapter on February 23, it will extend to the different provinces until it concludes in March.
