AMIGAS in Canada
The dance ensemble Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba traveled to Canada with the show AMIGAS to bring the warmth and energy of the Caribbean island through dance, music and fusion, said company director and choreographer, Lizt Alfonso, before departing.
The troupe is visiting the northern country for the sixth time. On this occasion it’s offering its famous dance musical in more than 10 cities and also on emblematic stages, such as La Place des Arts of Montreal.
AMIGAS was premiered at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg in 2011 and, following its success in the German city, it’s received both audiences’ and critics’ acclaim at the Kingdom Bahrain and its version Cuba Vibra in Holland and Belgium. In Cuba it’s been staged at the Karl Marx Theater in 2012 and 2014, as well as at the principal theaters in the Cuban cities of Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, Cienfuegos, and others.
Canada has become one of the most important countries for Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba performances since 2007, the date when the show VIDA was premiered in Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theater.
