Lausana, July 6 (RHC)-- Cuban long jumper Juan Miguel Echevarría took first place with an 8.32 m record in the eighth stop of the Laussane Diamond League, in Switzerland, where Cuban Liadagmis Povea was third in the triple jump with the best result of her life.

Echevarría, 20, achieved the result in the third attempt with +0.5 meters per second of downwind wind, in a test marked by the discreet marks of most of the participants.

The second place corresponded to the Greek European champion Miltiadis Tentoglou (8,19 m.), while the world title holder of London-2017, the South African Luvo Manyonga, barely managed to stretch up to 8,13 m., the same result of Jamaican Tajay Gayle.

The expected duel between Echevarría and Manyonga was below expectations again, as last year both jumpers had skirmishes of more than 8.40m and finished the calendar with records of more than 8.60 each.

The one in Lausanne was the second diamond stop won by the Cuban athlete, after he won last June 16th in Rabat, Morocco, with a jump only two centimeters above than the one he made Friday.

Although he is still below his expected potential, Echevarría has managed to win five of the six contests in which he has participated in 2019.
