Las Tunas, August 14 (RHC) – A 93-board simultaneous chess match was held at Maceo Park in Las Tunas province to celebrate Fidel Castro´s birthday and International Youth Day.
The Chess Commissioner of Las Tunas province, Carlos Manuel Castellanos, praised the symbolic presence of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution in the Cuban chess movement, and that the event is a way of chess players to honor the memory of Fidel.
Michel Diaz Perez, one of the local players, considered the celebration of Fidel Castro´s birthday and the International Youth Day, as an opportunity for participating, having fun, and sharing with renowned local players.
