Havana, August 20 (RHC) – Cuban athletes Yaime Perez, Denia Caballero, and Yarisley Silva, shined this Sunday in their respective events in the Diamond League in Birmingham, UK, although the main role was played by Perez, who finished 1st in the discus throw.
Yaime Perez, who won the Gold medal in the recently finished Lima 2019 Pan-Am Games, has won once again, now in Birmingham with a 64,87m launch. Denia Caballero finished 2nd with 64,59 and Croatian Sandra Perkovic was 3rd with 63,80. Yaime Perez and Denia Caballero are at the top of the League, as Perez leads with 23 points and Caballero follows her closely with 22, Perkovic stands in the 3rd place with 16 points.
In the Womenś Pole Vault, the Cuban 3-time Pan-Am champion Yarisley Silva finished 3rd with 4,65 m, in a highly disputed event won by the current Olympic and World champion, Greek athlete Katerini Stefanidi (4,75).
After these results, Stefanini stays at the top of the scoreboard with 32 points, American Sandi Morris in 2nd with 20 and Silva is 3rd with 19.
