Havana, (RHC) – The Tabasco Olmecas of the Mexican professional baseball, informed via Twitter that they have signed Cubans Raico Santos, Yoanni Year and Cesar Prieto in order to the reinforce their roster towards the beginning of the 2020 season of the Mexican Baseball League.
The Olmecas explained that the Cuban players will arrive in time for the beginning of the Summer season, set to begin on April 6, with a total of 102 games of the regular season.
All three, Santos, Year and Prieto became champions in the Cuban National Baseball Series with the Matanzas Crocodiles, after defeating the Camaguey Bulls 4 games to 2.
Yera, 30, is considered the best left-handed pitcher in Cuba and has on his side a vast experience in both local and international tournaments like the 2015 Caribbean Series, the 2nd edition of the Premier 12 last year, and in foreign leagues with Toros de Herrera in Panama in 2018 and the Kitchener Panthers of the semi-pro Intercounty Baseball League in Ontario, Canada in 2019.
Santos, 25, is a lefty hitter that turns more than a few head because of his speed, quick swing and contact, and can be used in the top part of the line-up.
Prieto, 20, is seen by many experts as the top prospect of Cuban baseball and has among his accolades being named Rookieof the Year of the Cuban National Baseball Series in 2018.
