Two Cubans win individual awards at Norceca

Havana, August 24 (RHC)-- Cuba was left without medals at the Norceca men's volleyball tournament in Durango, Mexico, but two of its players won individual awards.

They are Miguel Angel Lopez and Jose Massó, who were the best in their positions, according to the Organizing Committee of the Continental Championship, won by Puerto Rico.

López, captain of Cuba's team, was chosen as the Best Corner Attacker, while Massó was distinguished as the best center back.

The captain of champion Puerto Rico, Arturo Iglesias, received the distinction of Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Dennis Del Valle, also from Puerto Rico, received the awards for Best Libero and Best Defense.

The Best Opposite and Best Scorer of the event went to Henry Omar Tapia of the Dominican Republic.

From Mexico, Pedro Rangel received the award for Best Setter and Josue De Jesus Lopez as Best Server.

Guatemala's Carlo Lopez received the award for Best Receiver.

Puerto Rico and Canada, silver medalist, obtained tickets for the next world championship in 2022.

Meanwhile, in the U19 men's world championship in Iran, Cuba lost to Germany in its debut in three sets, with scores of (25-19 25-19 25-18).

The Cuban team committed no less than 28 unforced errors, most of them on serves.
