Havana, September 4 (RHC)-- Situated in the qualification zone, the Cuban team will face this Saturday the closing of group E in division two of the Online Chess Olympiad, whose games are played through the game platform of the site www.chess.com.

The Caribbean players defeated Jamaica 5-1 on Friday, then 3.5-2.5 to Guatemala, and despite losing 2-4 to Ecuador in the farewell match, they remain second in their section with 10 points out of a possible 12.

The first place is now occupied by Colombia, which took advantage of the day to get wins over Ecuador, El Salvador and Chile, and reach 12 points.

Individually, Yaniela Forgás once again showed the best pace. The Santiago native obtained victories in the two games in which she took part and now has five successes in the same number of appearances.

For the farewell of this instance Cuba will have to face Colombia, Chile (fourth/9th place) and Paraguay (third/9th), so it is in their hands to take one of the top three places and ensure the ticket to the top division.
