Arlenis recovers from a fall and continues to shine in the Ardeche Tour

Havana, September 9 (RHC)-- Cuban Arlenis Sierra (A.R.Monex) recovered from a fall and crossed the finish line in an outstanding fourth place in the second stage of the Tour of Ardeche (France), where several of the stars of world cycling compete.

Arlenis, winner of the first stage on Wednesday, was nine seconds behind the American Thomas, winner with 3h24.44 and new leader of the Tour.

Elizabeth Deignan (Great Britain) and Thalita de Jong (Netherlands) escorted Thomas on the podium.

"A second stage full of grit and determination for Arlenis Sierra in the Tour de L'Ardèche: the Cuban champion suffered a fall 70 km from the finish line, but got up and escaped with 9 other cyclists, lost a few seconds on the climb, then returned to the front and was fourth at the finish line. The new leader is Leah Thomas, but many applauses for Arlenis", highlighted on social networks the A.R.Monex club.

After the second stage, Arlenis is second in the general classification, 9 seconds behind the leader Thomas, and leads the points classification (22 points).

The third of the seven stages will be held this Friday over 134.8 km in Avignon.
