Leuris Pupo is currently third in the world class in 25-meter pistol shooting.

Havana, November 9 (JIT) -- Cuban Leuris Pupo finished in tenth place in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol at the President's Rifle and Pistol Cup, held in Wroclaw, Poland.

Pupo, Olympic king in London 2012 and runner-up in Tokyo 2020, achieved identical rounds of 287 points in rounds one and two (Sunday and Monday), insufficient to reach the final of six contenders.

On Sunday, the Holguin native registered heats of 97, 94 and 96 units, and on Monday, 97, 97 and 93. Undoubtedly, the marks of 94 and 93 prevented him from reaching the medal competition.

The leaders of the qualifying phase were China's Yuehong Li (592), Germany's Christian Reitz (590), France's Clement Bessaguet (581), Poland's Oskar Miliwek (581), France's Jean Quiquampoix (580) and Estonia's Peeter Olesk (579).

Li took bronze at the last Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, while Quiquampoix won the crown.
