Shohei Ohtani and Bryce Harper, the Major League MVP in 2021
Havana, November 19 (RHC)-- Japan's Shohei Ohtani and American Bryce Harper deserved the Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards of the Major League Baseball season in the United States.
Ohtani, of the Angelinos and sensation of the year, was named the American League MVP and Harper, of the Phillies, won the award for the second time in the National League, announced Major League Baseball.
The 27-year-old Ohtani signed off on a dazzling campaign by becoming the first player in Major League history to be called up to the All-Star Game as both a pitcher and hitter.
The Los Angeles Angels star had already received the Players Choice, awarded by the players themselves, and the "Commissioner's Award for Historic Achievement".
In the American League MVP voting, Ohtani beat Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Marcus Semien, both of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Meanwhile, Harper, of the Philadelphia Phillies, prevailed over the Washington Nationals' Juan Soto of the Dominican Republic and Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres.
