Havana, December 28 (RHC)-- The news of the visit in January of the president of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation to Cuba is welcomed today by lovers of the sport of balls and strikes in Cuba.
The national commissioner Juan Reinaldo Pérez announced to the press that the Italian executive will arrive in this capital on January 13 on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the National Baseball Series, on January 14, 1962.
On the occasion of the ephemeris, Perez said that different activities will be carried out in all the provinces, besides being chosen as the day to flag the 16 teams participating in the 61st Series of Cuban baseball.
Fraccari's stay in Cuba will be extended until the 18th of the first month of the year, during which time he will give a press conference and will evaluate topics of common interest, such as the sponsorship of the Teammate brand to the National Series.
Regarding the upcoming baseball season, Perez ratified that the teams will be prepared between January 4 and 11, while the technical meeting of the event will take place two days later.
The baseball commissioner also recalled that the awards gala for the 60th season will be held on January 21 in the eastern province of Granma, home of the champion Alazanes.
Meanwhile, the Mártires de Barbados stadium in Bayamo will host the inaugural duel of the 61st National Baseball Series between the local Granma and the runner-up of last season, Matanzas.
