Havana, January 12 (RHC)-- A luxury pitching staff and an average age of 27 years old distinguish the roster of the Vegueros de Pinar del Río team for the 61st National Baseball Series (SNB), scheduled to begin on January 23rd.

Under the guidance of Alexander Urquiola, the team is made up of athletes and coaches with experience for several seasons in different categories, an important element for a good performance this year and to improve the fourth place of the previous campaign.

Olber Peña, Irandy Hernández, Yohan Rojas and Yansiel Ajete will be in charge of the catcher's office, while William Saavedra, Pedro Luis Dueñas, Juan Carlos Arencibia, Tony Guerra, Frank Raúl González, Jeifer Rodríguez, Esteban Terry and Luis Enrique García will be in charge of the infield.

Yaser Julio González, Lázaro Emilio Blanco, Reinier León, Luis Pablo Acosta, Roidel Martínez, Geovannys Hernández and Yoannis Moreno will guard the outfield.

The pitching staff is headed by international players Liván Moinelo, Raidel Martínez, Yosvani Torres, Erly Casanova, Vladimir Baños, Frank Abel Álvarez, Frank Luis Medina; in addition to Yaifredo Domínguez, Yoandy Cruz, Reilandy González, Isbel Hernández, Branlis Rodríguez and Yasiel Zambrana.

Likewise, a total of 11 players make up the reserve team in this edition of the SNB.

Julio César Rodríguez Pimentel, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, during the official presentation stressed that the success of the team will depend on discipline and individual and collective responsibility.

He urged to continue working with love to defend the jersey, because of what it represents in the history of the national pastime and for the people.

Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, national baseball commissioner, highlighted the extraordinary effort in the 60th contest to overcome all the atypical situations associated with the COVID-19.
