Cuba will not play FIFA dates in January

Havana, January 13 (RHC)-- The Cuban Football Association (AFC) reports that it will be impossible to play the FIFA date corresponding to the month of January.

INFORMATION FROM THE AFC

Cuba's senior national soccer team will not be able to play the FIFA matchday corresponding to the month of January.

The difficult logistical and sanitary conditions imposed by the new wave of COVID-19 made it impossible to play.

The AFC has been trying for months to present the national team on Cuban soil, for which the federations of Belize, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada were contacted this time.

In all cases they declined in the midst of the preparations, citing difficulties in accessing airline tickets, due to their high cost, and other issues related to the epidemiological situation.

In order not to miss the opportunity to meet, a trip to Trinidad and Tobago was considered, but it turned out to be impossible for the same reasons explained above.

In the last few hours, an invitation was received from the Guatemalan Football Federation, after their team was unable to fly to the United States for the scheduled match against Canada.

The possibility was quickly assessed and an attempt was made to arrange for our international athletes to travel to the Central American country, but once again the high cost of tickets and other difficulties forced the cancellation.

We regret the current situation and we renew our commitment to have our national team playing in front of its public soon.
