Navegantes del Magallanes blanked Caribes de Anzoategui 6-0 to tie the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) final at three wins apiece and force a seventh game.

Havana, January 25 (RHC)-- Navegantes del Magallanes blanked Caribes de Anzoategui 6-0 to tie the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) final at three wins apiece and force a seventh game.

In a game played at the Alfonso Carrasquel Stadium in Puerto La Cruz, Navegantes' main protagonist of the victory was left-handed starter Yohander Méndez, who reduced the host team's powerful offense to a minimum during seven innings.

Méndez worked at a pace of nine strikeouts and four tickets, with only two hits allowed, backed by solid relievers Anthony Vizcaya and Bruce Rondón, while Henry Centeno allowed four hits and three clean sheets in four innings and one third of work, to take the loss.

Outfielder Cade Gotta led the Magallanes offense with a double and a pair of runs batted in, seconded by Pablo Sandoval, Ángel Reyes and Jesse Castillo, who each towed in a run in the game.

Both teams will face each other again this Tuesday in the seventh and decisive duel of the final series, with Caribes de Anzoátegui seeking to reedit the title won last season, while Navegantes will be looking for a crown they have not won since 2014, when they defeated their rivals.
