Algerian chess player offers simultaneous in tribute to Marti
Havana, January 28 (RHC/JIT)-- The Algerian master Lyés Yala enjoyed his first experience as a simultaneous chess player in Cuba.
To compete in 169 boards became a feat for the visitor, who together with the Cuban Chess Federation chose the occasion to pay homage to the National Hero José Martí, born 169 years ago on January 28th.
In nine hours and 32 minutes of play, the Argentinean achieved 154 wins, seven draws and eight losses.
Boys and girls, most of them linked to the systematic practice of chess, as well as parents and amateurs took part in the exchange, used by Yala as a preparation for the world record he intends to set.
The Algerian engineer intends to surpass the record of 604 boards that in 2011 were part of the simultaneous played by the Iranian Ehsan Ghaem Maghami.
