Havana, February 15 (RHC)-- Cuban pole vaulter Yarisley Silva set her best mark of the season with a third place finish at the Meeting de l'Eure, in the Jesse Owens stadium in the French town of Val De Reuil, and showed progress in the so-called winter tour of athletics.

Now at 4.65 meters, the London 2012 Olympic runner-up celebrated a third podium finish since she began preparatory competitions for the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade (March 15-18) at the end of January.

Yarisley was this time behind Slovenia's Tina Sutej and Belarus' Irina Zhuk, both with records of 4.70 meters, according to what was published by the organizers of the event on the social network Twitter.

For the also owner of three Pan American Games crowns, the winter season began in the French city of Nevers, where she finished in second place with 4.52 meters. Then she was again among the winners with the third place in a competition held in the Czech city of Ostrava, when she surpassed 4.51 meters.

With Monday's mark, Yarisley moved up to fifth place in the season's ranking. The current leader is the Russian and world champion Anzhelika Sidorova -also Olympic silver medalist-, who won last February 8 in Moscow with 4.80 meters.

Yarisley is included in the group of nine Cubans who are preparing to attend the World Championship in Belgrade and for the moment she has completed the conditioning courses announced by the national commission, although it is possible that she will participate in some other meeting before the end of this month.

The sprinter Roxana Gómez, the long jumpers Maikel Massó, Lester Lescay and Maikel Vidal, the triple jumpers Leyanis Pérez and Liadagmis Povea, as well as the high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas are also ready to compete in Europe.

The latter will compete today in Banska Bistryka, Slovakia, in what will be his third presentation of the season. On the 5th, he finished third in the Hustopeche meeting, in the Czech Republic, with a good record of 2.30 meters, which took him to the third place in the ranking.
