Sancti Spíritus and Industriales baseball players punished

Havana, February 17 (RHC/JIT)-- The National Baseball Commission has issued a press release related to the application of sanctions to Industriales and Sancti Spíritus players during the current national series.

Due to its interest and timeliness, we reproduce it in its entirety....

INFORMATION FROM THE CNB

The National Baseball Commission informs that players Alexis Varona Núñez, from Sancti Spíritus, and Andrés Hernández Díaz, from Industriales, have been sanctioned not to participate in five (5) games of the 61st National Series.

Such decisions are the result of the process followed by our disciplinary commission after learning that both athletes violated the established rules regarding relations with media not recognized by the authorities of the event.

Varona Núñez offered statements to one of those publications and Hernández Díaz exercised a promotional action in favor of that own website, which violates the provisions of the Disciplinary Regulations for the Competitive Baseball System, the code of ethics and the regulations discussed and approved by the members of all the teams registered in the current season.

In accordance with the dates on which their respective transgressions took place, the measures began to be applied on February 15 and 16, in that order.

We take this opportunity to reiterate our willingness to assign total priority to the enforcement of the discipline that should support the privilege of starring in the main socio-cultural spectacle of our country.
