Arlenis Sierra in Cuba after reigning in Pan American Road Race

Havana, May 18 (JIT)-- Cuban Arlenis Sierra, gold medalist at the Pan American Road Cycling Championships concluded Sunday in San Juan, Argentina, returned to the homeland on Tuesday with the rest of the team. Her performance also secured her a place in the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.

Upon her arrival at José Martí International Airport, the Manzanillo native told JIT that "I am very happy with this result and with the girls of the team, who contributed a lot to achieve the gold medal".

"Now I'm going to have a rest, then I'll be in Italy and then in the Tour de France. I want to thank the Cuban people for all the support offered to obtain these results. I dedicate this triumph to the victims of the events at the Saratoga Hotel and especially to their families. I hope it is like giving a bouquet of flowers", said Sierra.

The Pan American champion thanked the reception offered upon her arrival, headed by the vice-president of Inder Ariel Sainz and the director of international relations of the maximum organism of Cuban sport, Gisleydi Sosa.

The women's road cycling of the Greater of the Antilles has the possibility of increasing the number of participants with a view to San Salvador 2023 during the next Pan American and Caribbean track championships to be held in Lima, Peru.
