After this score, the four matches of the initial round of the playoffs were established: Sancti Spíritus (45-30)-Pinar de Río (40-35), Las Tunas (42-32)-Matanzas (40-35), Mayabeque (42-33)- Ciego de Ávila (41-34) and Industriales (41-34)-Granma (43-32), defending champion.
Out of the definition of the crown were Holguín (39-36), Villa Clara (38-37), Santiago de Cuba (38-37), Isla de la Juventud (37-38), Camagüey (36-39), Artemisa (27-46), Guantánamo (27-48) and Cienfuegos (21-52), in that order.
According to the event's organizing committee, the quarterfinals will begin on Wednesday, May 25, with a best-of-seven series.
The Cuban championship began last January with 16 teams in the organization, under a round-robin format in a qualifying stage of 75 games and eight tickets in dispute for the first segment of the playoffs.
