Cuban duo advances to Synchro Platform Final in World Aquatics Championships

Budapest, June 28 (PL) - The Cuban duo of divers Luis Gustavo Cañabate and Carlos Daniel Ramos advanced to the synchronized platform final at the World Aquatic Sports Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Cañabate and Ramos, both 18 years old, finished in ninth place in the preliminary round thanks to their 336.69 points, an instance from which 14 pairs advanced to medal contention.

This is the best result to date for the Cuban delegation, which arrived in Budapest with six divers, four pool swimmers and four artistic swimmers. The latter two disciplines have already concluded their participation in the Hungarian pools, also with positive performances.

This Tuesday, from the 10-meter platform, the best of the six jumps of Cañabate and Ramos was the fourth, with a score of 72.00.

Cuba's best result in this modality at world level was the bronze medal in the 2009 version, when José Antonio Guerra and Ernesto Aguirre finished in third place in the Rome-based event with a score of 456.60 units.
