Cuban gymnasts qualify to San Salvador 2023

Havana, June 30 (ACN) - Cuba assured its presence in trampoline gymnastics at the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023 after winning places in the continental competition of that sport in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

Brandis Banteur and Jardiel Crespo obtained the quotas with scores of 44.680 and 44.655 respectively, as confirmed by coach Yoana Santana to the institutional sports publication Jit.

Achieving the qualification was the main objective of the Cubans, who were presented with only a few months of preparation in their programs and without previous international competitions.

In the Pan American competition, in addition to places for San Salvador 2023, medals were disputed in individual and synchronized exercises,

Colombian Angel Hernandez and Brazilian Camila Lopez were the individual champions in the senior category, and Hernandez himself, together with Alvaro Calero, dominated the synchronized event.

The competition will continue in the coming days with artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics. In both cases, Cuba will attend with full teams, also seeking to reach San Salvador.
