World Challenger

Havana, July 22 (RHC) - The Cuban Volleyball Federation (FCV) released the list of 12 players that traveled to South Korea on Friday to take part in the World Challenger, in which star players Robertlandy Simón and Liván Osoria have been excluded.

The exclusion of Simon and Osoria is due to the fact that they have tested positive for COVID-19 during the compliance of the protocol required by the organizers.

Despite these unfortunate casualties, the FCV ratifies that the group has a high quality and a lot of commitment in search of obtaining the ticket to the Volleyball Nations League (NLL) of 2023.

The Cuban team makes the trip to Korea with stops in Caracas and Turkey.

The list of 12 players includes several of the players who led the team to the title in the recent Norceca in Mexico, among them Miguel Angel Lopez, Marlon Yant, Maikel Sanchez, Osniel Mergarejo, Adrian Goiede, and Roamy Alonso, the MVP in the Mexican tournament and who is recovering from an injury.

The other novelty in the roster is the inclusion of attacker Miguel David Gutiérrez, who did not play in the recent regional tournament in Mexico.

The World Challenger, scheduled for July 28-31, is a qualifier for the Nations League of this sport in 2023.
