Cuban cyclists will compete in Tour of Panama
Havana, August 19 (RHC)-- Cyclists from Cuba's national teams will compete in the Tour de Panama, which will begin on Sunday, August 21 and will be contested by at least 258 riders over seven stages.
The Tour of Panama 2022 will feature teams from Saudi Arabia, Spain, Panama and the United States, as well as the national teams of Guatemala, Costa Rica, Cuba and Colombia, among others, as announced in the last hours by the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) on its official website.
It will be a Tour "in a big way", COPACI emphasizes. The technical congress and the presentation of the teams are scheduled for Saturday, August 20, explained Emer Samudio, general manager of the Panamanian Cycling Federation.
"The Tour de Panama 2022 means much more than a cycling competition, it means showing the world how beautiful Panama is. Today Panamanian cycling is in an excellent moment," Samudio said.
"It means economic reactivation for the country, the Tour de Panama means tourism, health and culture," he added.
In recent years, veteran and newcomers from Cuba have competed in another emblematic road event in Panama, the Clásica RPC Radio, with praiseworthy results among competitors from the best clubs in the region.
