The male quintet of Cuba managed to be included among the top 4 teams at the Centrobásquet Tournament, located in Nayarit, Mexico, to combine their 72-67 win over Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic's 73-68 victory over Jamaica.
With this result, Cubans remain undefeated in 3 stages and qualified to dispute the 1st play in Group A against Dominican Republic.
Yoan Luis Haiti with 15 points and 11 rebounds was the best scorer for the Cubans, seconded by the organizer Osmel Oliva, who was confirmed with 14 points as the leading scorer with 44.
With the win, Cuba qualified for Veracruz 2014 and 2015 Continental Olympic Qualifying, and it if ends on the top 3 in Nayarit, will also qualify for the Pan-American Games in Toronto-2015.
In the next turn, Dominicans prevailed 73-68 to Jamaicans and leave them out of the semifinals.
This Tuesday will bump into Cuba-Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico vs. Mexico to define the leaders of Groups A and B, respectively, and the order to pass and discuss the medals.
