Havana, October 27 (JIT)-- Four Cuban swimmers will attend the First Central American and Caribbean Sea and Beach Games of Santa Marta 2022, in Colombia, scheduled for November 19-26.
Andrea Becali and Dainé Pedré will be in the women's category, and Rodolfo Falcón Jr. and Jonathan Pérez in the men's category, all of them participants in the First Caribbean Games of Guadeloupe 2022, last July.
The quartet -the number assigned by the organizers to each country- will compete individually in the three and five kilometers of open water, as well as in the mixed event on November 24, 25 and 26.
Nelson García Fernández, national swimming commissioner, explained to JIT that the four are training with the rest of the Cuban elite preselection at the Baraguá Swimming Pool Complex, under the watchful eye of coaches Luisa María Mojarrieta, Jaciel Hernández and Víctor García.
The director also announced that on November 11 and 12, the entire pre-selection will undergo a preparation control for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023. Then, in mid-December, they will all be thrown back into the Olympic pool during the traditional Andrés Pérez Swimming Cup.
"In that event, the first cut will be made with a view to San Salvador 2023 and those who will take part in the V Alba Games, scheduled for March 3 to 10 next year in Venezuela, will be defined," he said.
