Havana, November 5 (JIT) - The president of INDER, Osvaldo Vento Montiller, flagged the Cuban team that will participate in the First Baseball5 World Cup in Mexico City 2022.

He received the national ensign from the hands of the glory of the sport Rodolfo Puente, also vice president of the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB), and placed it in the hands of the athletes with the conviction that they will know how to obtain the sporting and moral victories that the people expect.

The ceremony took place at the Fragua Martiana, in the presence of Yosuam Palacios, director of that institution and leader of the Movimiento Juvenil Martiano. Also in attendance was Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, head of the FCB and national commissioner of this sport.

Eros Bernal, methodologist of the National Baseball Commission for this discipline, highlighted the preparation carried out and the commitment that reigns in the men and women members of the team.

Cuba is placed in Group A of the Cup along with Japan, Hong Kong, Lithuania, South Africa and Mexico. According to the schedule of the preliminary phase, our national team will face South Africa and Lithuania on Tuesday, November 8, a day later Hong Kong and Mexico, and finally Japan on November 10.

In the other key are the teams from France, Kenya, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia and Venezuela.

The first three places in each section will advance to the super round scheduled for November 11 and 12, carrying over their bilateral results. In other words, they will only play against the qualifiers from the other zone.

The two best-placed teams in the super round will discuss the crown on November 13, shortly after the third and fourth place finishers fight for the bronze medals.
