Cuban Leuris Pupo once again exhibited surgical precision and won the Silver medal in the Olympic 25-meter rapid fire final.

Havana, November 14 (RHC)-- The president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), Osvaldo Vento, congratulated Cuban pistol shooter Leuris Pupo for having won his ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

On the social network Twitter, Vento highlighted the constancy of the double Olympic medalist, turned into the first Cuban sport's qualifier to the lid under the five rings in the French capital.

"Another award to the constancy and commitment of the London 2012 champion. Congratulations to shooter Leuris Pupo, turned into the first qualifier of #DeporteCubano for the #Paris2024 Olympic Games!" the head of INDER wrote in his tweet.

Pupo conquered over the weekend the gold medal in the 25-meter (m) rapid pistol at the Pan American Shooting Sport Championship held in Lima, Peru, with which he achieved the Olympic ticket. On Sunday, he increased his harvest by leading the Cuban trio that won in the same modality as a team along with his teammates Jorge Felix Alvarez and Alejandro Delgado.

Monarch of London 2012 and runner-up in Tokyo 2020, Pupo won the individual event in a "heart-stopping" final against Henry Leverett of the United States.

In the decisive instance of the best four, both shooters were equal at 30 points, but in the last round of shooting, the Cuban was better than Leverett, who took the silver medal.

Peruvian Marco Carrillo won the bronze, while Jorge Felix finished fifth and Delgado seventh.

Two of the three Cubans also guaranteed quotas for the Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023.
