Havana, December 5 (RHC)-- The freestyle gladiators completed the 18 quotas for Cuba in the wrestling qualifying tournament for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023. Competition that took place until Sunday in the Dominican Republic.

Although they could not win the six titles, as did the women and men in Greco-Roman wrestling, the Cuban wrestlers said goodbye with four gold medals, one silver and one bronze, together with six tickets to the Central Caribbean Games.

According to the official website of the event, Alejandro Valdes (65 kg), Yurieski Torreblanca (86 kg), Arturo Silot (97 kg) and Reineris Salas (125 kg), won the crowns, while Reineri Andreu (57 kg) won the silver medal and Geandry Garzon (74 kg) the bronze.

With these results, the Caribbean nation's wrestlers won 16 gold, one silver and one bronze medal, in addition to the aforementioned 18 berths to the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.

On Saturday, freestyle gladiators Yusneyli Guzmán (50 kg), Laura Herin (53 kg) Ángela Álvarez (57 kg), María Fernanda Santana (62 kg), Hangelen Llanes (68 kg) and Milaymis Marín (76 kg) won their respective divisions.

Previously, on Friday, the same had been done by the Grecians Kevin de Armas (60 kg), Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Luis Orta (67 kg), Yosvani Peña (77 kg), Daniel Grégorich (87 kg), Reinier Monteagudo (97 kg) and Keldys Jossef (130 kg).
