The secretary general of the Russian Volleyball Federation, Aleksander Yaremenko, today filed a complaint with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) over the suspension of Russian athletes.

Moscow, December 8 (PL) - The secretary general of the Russian Volleyball Federation, Aleksander Yaremenko, today filed a complaint with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) over the suspension of Russian athletes.

"We have filed a claim for discrimination on the basis of nationality and suspension of athletes, and it is something that has happened in all sports, so we see it as a clear violation of human rights," Yaremenko said Thursday.

Our protest was submitted to arbitration by the FIVB itself, which takes a long time to make a decision in these circumstances, in which we demand justice, he added.

On February 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to compete because of the situation in Ukraine.

On March 1, the FIVB followed the IOC's call and suspended the national teams and clubs of Russia and Belarus from international tournaments.

Also, the 2022 World Championship for men's teams was moved from Russia to Poland and Slovenia.
