Havana, January 6 (RHC)-- Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 on Thursday and moved closer to the first position in the English Premier League, occupied by Arsenal for several months.
Manchester City had to play through every detail of the match against a rocky Chelsea, until Ilkay Gundogan scored the only goal of the victory in the 63rd minute, thanks to a millimetric assist from Jack Grealish.
Thus, the disciples of Spanish coach Josep Guardiola reached 39 points and secured second place in the championship, only five behind Arsenal, who on Tuesday drew goalless against Newcastle (35), the revelation team of the season.
The Premier League will pause its calendar until next Thursday, when the Chelsea-Fulham duel will kick off on matchday 19.
